QA teams today are expected to move quickly while still maintaining high-quality standards. This ensures that quality, maintainability, and intent are never compromised.
To support this approach, AI-assisted tools such as Cursor are used selectively to accelerate repetitive scripting tasks and manage implementation complexity. By reducing time spent on boilerplate code, engineers can focus on higher-value activities such as scenario modelling, edge-case analysis, and improving overall code quality.
The objective is not full automation autonomy, but faster time-to-value with governance and accountability built in. 2. Keeping Automation anchored to Business Requirements
Another core principle of our QA approach is to ensure automation remains tightly aligned with business intent. When tests drift away from requirements, automation loses its value and becomes costly to maintain.

This allows teams to move more quickly from intent to implementation while preserving traceability.
When a defect ID is provided, the same approach enables targeted automation to be generated to validate the fix, helping teams prevent regressions early and keep automation closely tied to business outcomes.
Crucially, all generated scripts are reviewed and refined by QA engineers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with the original requirement.
3. Using application context to manage Automation Complexity
As applications grow in scale and behaviour becomes more dynamic, effective automation depends on a clear understanding of application context. Without this, scripts become brittle, overly UI-dependent, and difficult to maintain.
Our QA approach emphasises designing automation around logical user flows, component behaviour, and navigation patterns rather than isolated interactions. This allows automation to remain resilient as the application evolves.
Cursor, when integrated with application context services like Playwright via MCP, can generate initial automation flows with awareness of UI structure, interaction patterns, and common user journeys. This significantly reduces the effort required to model complex test paths, while ensuring that design decisions and test strategy remain under the control of QA engineers.
The result is faster script creation without sacrificing understanding, intent, or long-term maintainability.
4. Preserving quality through Human-in-the-Loop Automation
While AI can accelerate automation creation, quality cannot be automated away. A core principle of our QA strategy is that human judgment remains essential to ensure correctness, clarity, and trust in automated tests.
Every automation script, whether manually written or AI-assisted, is subject to mandatory human review. QA engineers validate assertions, refine logic, improve resilience, and ensure alignment with framework standards before scripts are accepted into the suite.

Another key principle of our approach is ensuring automation consistently covers more than just ideal user journeys. Relying solely on happy-path scenarios leaves critical gaps that often surface late in delivery.
By using AI-assisted generation as a starting point, QA engineers are able to more easily extend coverage across:

Boundary conditions and edge cases
Rather than increasing effort linearly, assisted automation helps teams broaden coverage systematically, resulting in more resilient and trustworthy test suites.
